Practice Nurses
Our team of
Practice Nurses deal with a range of conditions and health
concerns. They are experts in many areas of disease management
such as diabetes and asthma. Their work includes the
following:
- Minor injuries and Minor Illness
- Dressings
- Suture Removal
- Blood Tests
- Cervical Smears
- Foreign Travel immunisations
- Routine Immunisations
- Well Person Screening
- Weight Management
- Health Advice
If you would like an appointment please contact reception. You
will be asked the nature of your appointment so that the nurse
can be allocated the correct length of time required.
Complimenting our Practice Nurses, our Phlebotomist / Health
Care Assistant works Monday - Friday am. You may be asked to
make an appointment with her for routine blood tests or blood
pressure, weight and urine checks.
Practice Management & Receptionists
Our practice staff
include Janet Mallett our Practice Manager, Jill Walby our
Business Manager, 2 full time and 18 part time administrative
/ reception staff.
Community Nurses
The Community
Nursing Sisters and their team are based in the Health Centre
and provide a wide range of nursing care in their own homes
seven days a week. Referral can be made either through your
doctor, or by leaving a message at the reception during
opening hours.
Health Visitors
Health Visitors are qualified nurses with special training and
experience in child health, health promotion and education.
They support young families within the community and are able
to advise on all aspects of parenting and family well being.
This is on an individual or group basis, and can include
smoking cessation, child health clinics, post-natal
depression, baby massage and post-natal support. The Heath
Visitors are based at the Health Centre where they can be
contacted Monday to Friday.
Community Midwives
The community
midwives are based in the Health Centre and can be contacted
by leaving a message at reception. Once pregnancy is confirmed
the midwife will arrange to see you before the 12th week of
pregnancy when options for maternity care can be discussed.
They run parent craft and relaxation classes, ante-natal
clinics in the Health Centre and see post-natal patients at
home.
